Nepal

This is the long overdue first installment of the photos I took on a trip to Nepal last March. (I posted these on Facebook and Flickr anyway. Hehe ) Early this year, my sister called me up one morning and asked if I wanted to go with her on a package tour to Nepal. She was going there on a conference with other doctors. Without hesitating, I said yes. I knew I had to set aside a huge amount for the trip, but then I thought I might not have another chance to go to Nepal, and with a very organized itinerary, too. Also, I don’t think I’ll ever regret spending on travel. Truth is, I didn’t know what to expect when we get there, but my sister said we’ll be seeing Mt. Everest and the Himalayas, and that was enough for me. I knew it was going to be one of the most interesting trips I’ll ever have.

We arrived in Bangkok on a Friday night. We just had dinner and spent the night at Novotel, which was near the airport. Then we took the early morning flight to Nepal the next day.

At the Bangkok airport:

Touchdown Nepal (after a 6-hour flight):
And I thought we had the worst airport. But then again, Nepal has no stable government to date and had just recently recovered from a war so I shouldn’t compare. There’s really no justification for the current state of our international airport 😛

I went to Zamboanga last May, and I realized their airport looks a lot like the one in Nepal.  The locals gave us marigold flower necklaces: This is our tour guide. He later on told me and my sister that he thought we were Nepalese (!). I think my sister looks more Nepalese though. Hehe

At the Soaltee Crowne Plaza:

 Bwahaha:

This is where we had lunch (also at Soaltee Crowne Plaza): Luuunch: (I know some people who won’t be happy with the buffet spread. i.e., my mom. Haha)Photos taken at the tour bus, on our way to Nagarkot:

“Follow Me Green Tea Shampoo” – probably a direct competitor of “Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific” shampoo. Hehe Will post the other photos later 🙂
